Kingston’s best family-friendly March Break activities

Turn your March Break vacation into the ultimate staycation! Here is momstown’s round up of the best family-friendly activities in Kingston.

Kingston Frontenac Public Library 

  • Calling all superheroes! The Kingston Frontenac Public Library will provide a mix of free activities for children of all ages during the March Break. Beginning on Monday, March 16, “Reading is a Superpower” will feature over 30 special programs, from storytimes to puppet shows. Activities and times vary by branch location, visit their events page for complete details.

March Break Whoopla at The Rocking Horse Toy Store

The Rocking Horse Toy Store in downtown Kingston is offering three different events for kids and families, including Musical Monday, Wacky Lego Wednesday (free!) and a special meet and greet Fairy Tale Friday princess party. Registration ($10) required for Fairy Tale Friday, and tickets for Musical Monday are $2. See the Rocking Horse Facebook page for details.

March Break Madness or Day Days at Playtrium

$40/day or $175/week for full day daycamps running from 8 am to 5:30 pm. Head to Playtrium for group games, crafts, quiet time, special cooking/baking lessons and more! Special March Break events also include Kingston's Carictature Guy and Glitter Bling Sparkle Tattoos. Pre-registration require for day camps.

Lizards, Snakes and Spiders, Oh My! at Frontenac Mall

  • From Monday, March 16th to Wednesday, March 18th get up close and personal with several species of exotic reptiles and amphibians from Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo who brings these creatures to you from around the world. Open 10am to 5pm daily with interactive educational presentations at 10:30, 12:00, 2:00 & 3:30. Free.

Maple Madess

March means maple syrup at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area. Take a tractor-drawn wagon back to our sugar bush to see how maple syrup was made in the olden days and how we make it now. Enjoy pancakes with real maple syrup and buy some maple syrup or sugar to take home. All activities except the puppet shows and bake sale take place outdoors so come dressed for the weather. Remember to bring extra money for yummy pancakes and fresh maple syrup products.

Snow School Camps at Batawa Ski Hill

  • Five-day ski/snowboard camp with full Day Camp with instruction and supervision from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with 20 hours of instruction.
  • Five-day ski/snowboard lessons with morning sessions 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
  • Also enjoy extended hours and extra days on the hill for March Break – the hill is open from 9am to 10pm all week long!

Art Camps at 4Cats Kingston

  • Choose from a variety of camps at 4Cats Kingston, including sculpting, painting, drawing and a special Graffiti Camp, where kids will learn all about street art and graffiti and try out tons of techniques: layering, stencilling, lettering, texture and more.

Museum of Health Care

  • Join the Museum of Health Care for a free and action packed learning family event! Get your heart pumping and find out why our bodies in motion are so amazing! Learn about your respiratory and circulatory systems, while local fitness experts lead you in fun activities.Make your own healthy and tasty snack using Canada’s food guide and learn about how your digestive systems works. Pre-registration required. Choose one of the following dates and times, then go online or email to register.

Boys and Girls Club of Kingston – West End Branch

  • A variety of full-day camps for kids of all ages offering activities to suit all interests and abilities. Camps include Little Connections (Ages 4& 5), Be Creative (Ages 6-8), Cooking Creations (Ages 8-12),  Jr. Einsteins (Ages 6-8) & Sr. Scientists (Ages 9-12) and  Sportacular (Ages 6-8) & All Sorts of Sports (Ages 9-12). Registration is required, all camps are $185 for members, $195 for non-members.

Boys and Girls Club of Kingston – Downtown Branch

  • Register early for the fun-filled Downtown Branch camps! Full day camps include Little Connections (Ages 4& 5), Cool Moves (Ages 6-8), Get B.U.S.Y. (Building the Ultimate and Sensational You) (Ages 9-12), Be Creative (Ages 6-12), and eXtreme Science (Ages 8-12). All camps are $175 and run from 8:30 to 5:30.

Ambassador Hotel Indoor Water Park

  • Guests will be treated to week-long themed events including Lego, Space and Dragons! Enjoy movies and of course, Kingston’s largest indoor waterpark.

Creative Art Programs at the Tett Centre

  • Arts lovers of all ages are invited to indulge their curiosity and bring the whole family to participate in programs at the Tett over the March Break. Workshops include
  • Make your own wearable art on Thursday, March 19 from 10pm-4pm. Students will learn how to cut and polish a gemstone using the equipment at the lapidary shop. The finished project will be a pendant or brooch. This program is for ages 11 and up and participants must have manual dexterity. $75
  • Experience Clay on March Break! The Kingston Potters' Guild presents an afternoon of clay play Monday, March 16 through Friday March 20 from 1pm-3pm. We will have clay available for you to try your hand at the potters wheel or participate in some hand-building. Cost is $25 per person and is for all ages.

Meme Jamming at the Tett Centre

  • Thursday, March 19, 2015 – 11:00am to 6:00pm
  • Freeze the Industry and Love My Life Tobacco Free in partnership with Barb Danielewski. Spend an hour or two with us immersed in a youth-led, interactive social media experience. We'll have awesome silkscreens to interact with and transform into memes on your very own (free!) tshirt or patch. Be ready for other immersive experiences planned by our youth volunteers such as videos, websites, photo booth, bands, and ball pit. Free, no registration required.

Delta Kingston Waterfront March Break Package

Indulge in a fun overnight at the ideally located Delta Kingston Waterfront. Your stay includes activity vouchers for nearby attractions like the Tett Centre or Crockadoodle, restaurant voucher, a waterfront room and free hot chocolate for kids under 12. 

Crockadoodle Movie Afternoons
