The United Way's Success By 6 Week is a fun-filled week of events and activities for the youngest members of our community. In Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington, the event runs Saturday, May 2 to Sunday, May 10 and features 169 free events.
“The time from conception to age 6 is a period of crucial development,” says Bhavana Varma, President & CEO, United Way KFLA. “Success By 6 reminds people in our community about the importance of early childhood learning and that children must be a priority in our community. I am so appreciative of all the businesses, groups and individuals who have stepped up to offer wonderful events that are free, accessible and fun. I hope people in our region will take this opportunity to get out there and have fun with their kids.”
Held each year, Success By 6 hopes to boost public awareness about the importance of early childhood learning and care, providing opportunities for young children, their families and caregivers to “Take the Time, Make the Moments Matter™”.
Success By 6 Week events have been planned in six categories – physical activities, learning activities, entertainment, environment, drop-ins & play groups and fun activities.
Volunteers have been planning the event since January, building on the success and participation of previous years. Returning favourites include a Story Time with Franklin the Turtle, Dipping for Pond Creatures, a free child-friendly movie, free parent and tot swims and yoga. New additions include a visit to the Robinson Family Farm and Community Garden, a tour of Fort Henry, a community book exchange, and more, due in part to businesses and organizations in the region offering their time, space and effort.
